PRESIDENTS REPORT

Annual General meeting November 1st, 2012
PRESIDENTS REPORT
Chair: Barbara and Bob Brisebois

Barbara and I would to thank everyone for coming out tonight and to our dancers a special thank you for supporting your executive in making this another successful year of dancing

Barbara and I have enjoyed our term as president couple but time has come to pass the torch to someone else. We wish to thank the members of the executive for their dedication and hard work over the past year and wish the new executive and president couple success. As past president couple we will be a part of the new executive to help the club continue in its endeavours to make our club

Keren and Dan Carter once again did a great job in securing our halls from the city. dealing with two different people in two separate locations. Keren and Dan also secured Charles Rummel for the month of May for an A2 teach by Ray.

Susan and Doug Hopkins did a great job keeping our Finances in order over the past year

Daphne green and Chuck Sheehan have done a marvellous job as Club Secretary Couple keeping all of our written records in order. Chuck still ,maintains a website blog c8announce.blogspot.com/ for the Club which is a good source of information and pictures of various events. I encourage everyone to keep on checking it out periodically. Its well worth your effort.

Barry and Carol Scott stepped up and have done a wonderful job as A2 coordinators. We must again thank Jack and Yvonne Powers for stepping in when needed to man the doors as A2 Coordinators.

The plus coordinators Ron and Bel Bishop, Walter Witt and Ilona Eberle stepped up once again last year have done an outstanding job for the past three years. They have decided to take a well deserved rest form their duties.

Bert & Marilyn Koll ever dependable have done a great job of being Social Conveners keeping both dance nights well supplied with coffee , utensils and other assorted goodies. They are readily available to bring the needed decorations from their storage facility to any special dance night. They have also graciously been the hosts of all of our executive meetings allowing us to use their living room for these meetings. The club and the executive wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to them.

We wish to thank Fraser Valley Representative Marguerite Jordan for her insightful and entertaining writing of the chatter in the Valley circle.

A special thanks to all the club members who have helped: selling ticket for the 50/50, keeping the kitchen stocked and running, helping with decorating the hall on special occasions.

We would once again like to give a special acknowledgement to Brian and Gerry Catterall, for maintaining and publishing our club membership lists and to Barry and Elaine Bentley for their organization of the Pub night, bowling night and the Toys for Tots dance. A special thank you to club members who donated items for the silent auction and draws.

Thank you to all of the club members for making this the fun club that it is.

Thanks to two of the best callers in the lower mainland (Ray and Brent) and to Alison our premiere cuer. Our club would not be the same without their efforts and their talent.

Last year's Toys for Tots was a great success thanks to the efforts of Barry and Elaine Bentley and the Road Runners. They have once again stepped up to the plate and the Toys for Tots Dance will be held on Dec 1st at Charles Rummel Hall with again the assistance of the Road Runners. The club will again give a cheque to the Xmas Fund amounting to half of the proceeds from our 50/50 draws.

Our Christmas dinners last year were well attended and received. This year we are not having catered dinners. Each dance night will decide on whether to have a pot luck or just deserts and finger foods.

We had a number of special events

The Bowling and Pizza night was spearheaded by the Bentleys. Everyone who attended had a wonderful time with great prizes, good eats and great fun.

Barry and Elaine again stepped up to organize the Pub Night at the Legion. Again this year it was a great success adding needed cash to our coffers. As a group we enjoyed good company and great dancing. We look forward to next year’s event.

The month of May saw us all enjoying excellent weather and another fantastic Golf and Banquet day organized by George and Katherine Bruschinsky. We wish to thank George and Katherine for all their efforts and hope that they will continue to organize and host this event. The club subsidized the golf meal for members and the new executive will have to decide whether we will continue to do this.

Our 3nd annual train dance had a slight derailment and had to be rescheduled to November 22 and we hope that it will be a resounding success once again.

Both dance nights have had diminishing attendance due to illness and injury to a number of dancers. We have lost more than 30 members over the past year and may not have them back dancing for a long time and some never. The A2 group have however gained 10 members to offset their losses.

Once again we wish to thank you to all for your help and support.
