2011 SUMMER NEWSLETTER

Barbara and I hope that everyone is having a great time this summer. We were traveling for the month of May and spent most of July in sweltering central Canada visiting family and friends. We returned to BC in time for the arrival of our summer weather which we have been enjoying. We are looking forward to our weekend in Cle Elum at the Circle 8 ranch with Brent and other members of the Plus group. It is a fun weekend of dancing and camaraderie. We wish to encourage the members of the A2 group to go and support your great caller Ray Brendzy who is calling on the Labour Day weekend at the Circle 8 ranch.

Once again the annual Golf and Dinner at Country Meadows was a great success with 78 people attending (36 golfers). Congratulations to George and Katie Bruschinsky for another fabulous job of giving us a fun day with great prizes and a wonderful meal.

Ray Brendzy will be calling and Alison Hampton will be cuing for the A2 level starting on Wednesday September 7th at Charles Rummel Hall. We will be dancing 14 nights until our Xmas dinner and final fall session night December 7th.

Brent Mawdsley will be calling and cueing for the Plus level group starting on Thursday September 8th. at Burnaby Lake Pavilion. We will be dancing 14 nights until our Xmas dinner and final fall session night December 8th.

Membership fees will remain at $10 a person. By joining the club you are eligible for a subsidy for both the Christmas dinner and the golf Dinner (what a deal). The nightly dance admission will remain the same.

Once again we will be offering package deals for the fall (September to December) season at a $25 dollar savings per couple ($12.50 per individual). Both A2 and Plus will be dancing 14 nights, therefore the packages will be sold for $115 ($140- $25).

The Fraser Valley Square and Round Dancing Association assessment (which includes compulsory insurance for 2012) will stay at $10 per person. So don’t forget to bring cash or cheque on your first night of dancing.

We understand that Penticton was lots of fun again this year for the dancers that attended. Chuckwagon 8’s however had to relinquish the attendance trophy this year.

We are planning some interesting and fun nights so come out and enjoy yourselves.

Toy for Tots dance will be held on December 3rd at Charles Rummel Hall with Ray Brendzy calling. Ray has been donating his time since 1992 to call this dance for us. It is once again a Chuckwagon 8s event under the capable hands of Barry and Elaine Bentley with the help of the Roadrunners. Collection of Canadian Tire Money to purchase toys will continue this year so keep your CTM and hand it in early so that we can purchase those needed toys for the Xmas Bureau. This is a worthwhile cause and we hope all members will come out and support it as well as convincing your friends and acquaintances that they should join us also.

Don’t forget our Christmas dinner dance on December 7th for the A2 group and December 8th for the plus group.

We have a number of special themed dances lined up for the Plus group over the next year featuring the 2nd Annual Train Dance. The Chuckwagon 8’s Express will be leaving from Burnaby Lake Pavilion @ 7:30 PM on November 3rd with conductor and chief engineer Brent Mawdsley at the throttle. This should be a wonderful evening of fun and great dancing so I urge all members to climb aboard and dance away the night with Brent.

The plus group will also have 2 other special theme nights: a Tribute to Frank Sinatra February 23rd 2012 and Brent’s Surprise Theme night slated for the spring of 2012.

Both clubs will again have the usual theme dance nights are: Burns January 25th and 26th , Valentines February 8th and 9th , and Easter April 4th and 5th .

It has been decided that this year the Club WILL NOT be selling the entertainment books as a fund raiser.

A reminder to all that Chuck Sheehan is doing a wonderful job of maintaining a blog site for the Chuckwagon 8’s. If your looking for interesting photo’s or just rekindling some memories please go to: http://c8announce.blogspot.com

Congratulations to Barbara and Guy Tryssenaar who are now the President Couple for the Fraser Valley Square and Round Dance Association. We know they will do a great job.

Enjoy the rest of the summer and see you on the dance floor.
