Scroll of Honor 2005

Roy and Janet Ballam were one of the founding couples of the Chuckwagon 8's Square Dance Club. They have served as president couple for this club for three separate terms. The Ballams have served as club representatives to the Fraser Valley Square and Round Dance Association (FVSRDA) for over eight years.

Roy and Janet were instrumental in approaching the FVSRDA with the concept of having multiple clubs supporting new dancer square dance lessons. They were successful in getting seven clubs to cooperate in making this idea a reality. Under their leadership these clubs not only learned to trust and work together but many became strong friends as a result of working together. The Ballams have also organized an annual recycle sale of square dance clothing and accessories to assist new dancers with their integration into the activity.

They were instrumental in making a media presentation for advertising new dancer lessons a reality in the Fall of 2003 and have worked since then with the local Promotion Committee for the advancement of the activity.

The Ballams served on the Services Committee for the Canadian National in the year 2000 in Vancouver where they provided a great deal of support for the committee director, Dennis Dixon.

This couple was Chair couple of the Administration Committee for Festival 2005.

In recent years this couple have actively enjoyed Contra Dancing in addition to square dancing.

The Ballams continue to serve the Chuckwagon 8's, the FVSRDA, the Promotion Committee and the Cooperative Squares to the betterment of square and related dancing activities.
